You're coaching third. Send him or hold him.
Pick a coach name.
Every play here is a real MLB play where the third base coach sent a runner home from second on a single to the outfield. You watch the play develop, then the clock starts. Send him or hold him.
Your streak grows when you send a runner who scored, or hold one who was thrown out at the plate in real life. It ends when you send a runner who was thrown out, hold one who scored, or let the clock run out. Coaches don't get a timeout.
In real baseball, about 97 of every 100 sends score. This game deals safe plays and outs 50/50, so sending every time won't keep a streak alive.
After each call you get a second grade. A timing model estimates how long the runner needs to get home, from his Statcast sprint speed, and how long the ball needs to get there, from where it was fielded and the outfielder's arm. The gap between the two becomes the chance he scores.
That chance is adjusted for the game's 50/50 deal, so the model calls a send right when it gives him better than even odds. The streak is graded on what really happened, and the model grades the decision. Sometimes the right call gets thrown out.
The field animation is a recreation built from the play data. It isn't tracked from video, and it always ends the way the real play did. The broadcast clip plays after you decide.
